Get a card to borrow books, ebooks, DVDs, and digital content
FULL ACCESS LIBRARY CARDS provide access to borrowing all physical items in the library’s collection and all ebooks and electronic resources paid for by the property tax payers within the Maryville Public Library taxing district (City of Maryville city limits).
Because the library is primarily funded by the property taxpayers of the City of Maryville taxing district, MPL Adult/Family Full Access cards are issued freely to households living or owning property within the City of Maryville property taxing district. To apply, please bring a photo ID and two pieces of mail or other paperwork (lease, checkbook, etc.) that show your current address, or a property tax receipt from the most recent tax year showing your household has paid property tax to the Maryville Public Library. Complete the Borrower’s Agreement/Application below or come in and fill one out at the circulation desk.
For those living outside of the City of Maryville’s taxing district, the same application, photo ID, and proof of address are needed, along with a $68 annual fee that covers all cardholders in the household. That amount is based upon what the library receives in property tax revenue from those living within the City’s taxing district.
5-BOOK LIMITED USE CARDS are available for individuals living outside the library’s Maryville taxing district or for minors or other individuals unable to take full legal and financial liability for items checked out. Borrowing privileges attached to these cards are limited to five print books or physical audiobooks at a time from the library’s collection. Access to a limited number of electronic databases is also included (TumbleBooks, Capstone e-book library for youth, and Pronunciator Foreign Language Learning database).
Limited use cards are free for those living in households paying property taxes to the library. Others may obtain a limited use card for $20 per card per year.
For Nodaway County households who are food-stamp eligible, the Friends and Foundation of the Maryville Public Library will pay for the 3-book limited use non-taxpayer card that will allow checkouts of up to three print books or audiobooks at a time. To apply, please bring in your food stamp (EBT) card along with a photo ID and proof of current residency.
