1,000 Books Before Kindergarten FAQ

  • When you reach the 100, 500, and 1000 book milestones, we have prizes available for you.

Any children who have not yet entered kindergarten can participate. You can sign up in less than 5 minutes here: 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Sign-up

To complete the program,  finish 1000 books before the first day of kindergarten. You may only count the books you read after signing up, but you may count any book read to your child, whether at home, childcare, in story time or elsewhere. Also, if your child has a favorite book, it counts every time you read it! Log sheets are available here to print: Printable logging pages or at the front desk of the Maryville Public Library.

For additional information, call 660-582-5281 and ask for Elizabeth.

Let friends and family know about the milestones your child is completing by printing out the appropriate sign below and taking their picture to post to social media. Be sure to tag the Maryville Public Library so we can share in the excitement!
