Calling Kids with Great Ideas!

The Maryville Public Library  invites all youth ages eight through high school, who might be interested in creating a product or service and earning a profit, to attend our informational meeting December 13, at 5 pm in the library’s basement.

The informational meeting will be a precursor to preparing for the Nodaway County Children’s Business Fair,  March 10 from 10am-2pm. Information and applications will be given out at the December 13 meeting.  Applications will be due January 13, 2018.

For the fair, kids create a product or service, develop a brand, build a marketing strategy, and then open for customers for a one-day marketplace. The children are responsible for the setup, sales, and interacting with customers.

The kids will be mentored along the way. Kids can be solo entrepreneurs or be part of a team of up to three youth. Students younger than 8 can be a part of the team as apprentices, but must have someone 8 or older as the lead.

Argo noted the group was also excited to have some middle and high school students providing input into the process and rules for the event.

Prizes will be awarded for various categories and will include some cash prizes among others.
